Downey home invasion robbery leaves 1 wounded

Police say they are searching for three men who invaded a Downey home, confronted residents, then shot and gravely wounded one victim.

Sgt. Perry Miller tells City News Service police got a call about gunfire at 11:54 p.m. Monday.

Sgt. Brian Baker says the wounded man's name is being withheld but he is in grave condition at a hospital.

Baker says the three men forced their way into the home looking for valuables and were confronted by residents who tried to fight them off.

He says the fight moved into the front yard where the victim was shot in the head. The three men drove off.
