The man is not scheduled to burn for another seven months, but that doesn’t mean you can’t already make your plans to head to Black Rock City.
Part of those plans should also be to get tickets and get them early.
Burning Man – the annual show in the dessert where 50,000 people come to celebrate art and self-expression – sold out for the first time in its 25-year history last year. To prevent any server meltdowns on sale day as well as ticket scalping at inflated prices, Black Rock LLC -- the organizers -- have devised a way for Burners to secure tickets early.
Roughly 3,000 pre-sale tickets went on sale in December, for $490 a piece. 40,000 tickets are scheduled to go on sale Feb. 1, but to be considered for those you must first register with the ticket website, tickets.burningman.com, before Jan. 22. Revelers' credit cards will be charged once winners have been picked at random.
The tickets are priced at $240, $320 and $390, you can register once to be in any or all of the lotteries to better your shot at getting tickets. An open sale of 10,000 tickets plus any remaining tickets not claimed during this lottery process will be held in March.
