Is newlywed LeAnn Rimes in store for an unwelcome reminder of her first marriage? A tabloid claims the country star, who recently wed Eddie Cibrian, is freaked out about the possible release of a sex tape involving her and husband of eight years Dean Sheremet.
According to “Star,” the intimate footage was found in a moving truck, and LeAnn is “desperate” to prevent it becoming public.
But her camp says there is no tape.
“LeAnn has absolutely never filmed a video having sex,” her rep maintained to the New York Daily News. The singer herself, always quick to refute rumors via Twitter, seconded, “I have never filmed myself having sex on tape, period. Haven’t joined that club LOL!”
And as we always say, if a celeb LOLs at a rumor, it’s clearly untrue.
Jack White and Karen Elson announced their split Friday … with an invite to a “divorce party.” Married since 2005, the White Stripes rocker and the red-haired model have two children.
The sort-of-estranged spouses have announced in a statement that they are getting divorced, declaring, “We remain dear and trusted friends and co-parents to our wonderful children Scarlett, 5, and Henry Lee, 3. We feel so fortunate for the time we have shared and the time we will continue to spend both separately and together watching our children grow.”
Pretty standard celeb-couple amicable-split announcement, right? But here’s where things take an oddball turn.
“In honor of that time shared, we are throwing a divorce party,” the statement continues. “An evening together in Nashville to re-affirm our friendship and celebrate the past and future with close friends and family.”
The invite promises “dancing, photos, memories and drinks with alcohol in them.” But the pair cautions: “This is only for close personal friends and family. So please, no plus-ones or deadbeats.” (Rats — that excludes us!)
Appropriately quirky for a couple who were wed in a canoe on the water by a Brazilian shaman priest. And unusual though it might be, we can’t help but think their attitude is downright healthy, especially with kids involved.
Up with pre-nups
Khloe Kardashian is not one to make apologies. She was unabashed about last week’s wardrobe malfunction on “Fox and Friends” (her sheer blouse revealed a bit too much on daytime TV), and she’s got no qualms about admitting she and her sister are all business when it comes to marriage. After an “Us” report that Kim has had a pre-nup drawn up to keep fiance Kris Humphries from getting any of her cash, Khloe told E! she approved.
“We have a pre-nup,” the reality star declared while standing with husband Lamar Odom. “Do you know what kind of day and age this is? Everybody needs a pre-nup. I don’t care if you make $5 or $5 million, you’re protecting yourself. … People are crazy, you never know.”
Khloe insists the paperwork “doesn’t mean you don’t love” your partner, adding, “When you have businesses together, like we do, you have to protect yourself.”
Hmmm. We tend to think that if you feel the need to “protect yourself” against your spouse, maybe you don’t really love each other. But then, we also wouldn’t marry someone we’d known for a month.
Kanye and Mary-Kate kissing?
Kanye West got an unexpected 34th birthday present, according to the New York Post: a makeout session with Mary-Kate Olsen. The outspoken rapper and the child star turned designer allegedly canoodled at his party at NYC’s Submercer around 2 a.m. Thursday. His rep didn’t get back to the paper — surprise, surprise.
