Distressed woman shuns hero

A hero received less than a thank you after rescuing a distressed damsel in North Beach Monday.

After the good Samaritan helped free the woman from a thug's grip, she fled the scene and never returned in the 500 block of Union Street around 1:30 a.m., police said.

The man suffered a broken nose trying to save the woman. He had been in his apartment when he heard her scream outside. He went to investigate and saw a thug grabbing the woman’s arm, police said. He yelled at the suspect to let go, and the suspect complied. The woman fled, police said.

The suspect then punched the man twice in the face, fracturing his nose, police said.

While the woman had left her hero behind, another passerby came to his aid, helping detain the suspect until cops arrived.

“The suspect claimed to be a professional fighter and has been training for seven years,” police said.

He was arrested and hauled to Central Station.
