Disabled vehicles cleared, Highway 101 reopens near Woodside Road

All lanes of northbound U.S. Highway 101 just south of Woodside Road in Redwood City have reopened following several collisions that blocked three lanes for more than an hour Wednesday morning, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

A Sig-alert was issued at 5:03 a.m. after four vehicles involved in the collisions blocked the three left lanes, CHP Officer Jonathan Short said.

The chain of events began at 4:46 a.m. when a black Honda crashed into the center divide, spun out and became disabled in the center of five lanes of traffic, Short said.

Three other vehicles collided in the area of the first crash, he said, and those involved sustained minor injuries.

The Sig-alert was canceled at 6:01 a.m.
