What is your advice to runners trying to avoid injury? Strengthen your entire body by cross training, not just by only running. If you have strong quads, a strong, well-developed core, you’re much less injury-prone.
What are your favorite runs in the Bay Area? One of my favorite runs is to cross the Golden Gate [Bridge] and head over the Dispea [Trail] and to Stinson Beach, grab a coffee ... and then head back on the Coastal Trail. It’s a 40- to 45-mile loop that I just love doing.
What is your advice for would-be runners needing motivation? Kick down some cash for a really good pair of shoes.
