Knapp is the regional vice president of Robert Half International, the world’s first and largest leader in professional staffing and consulting services. The firm recently conducted a survey about the types of perks companies will be offering their employees in 2011.
How did you conduct the survey? We interviewed over 4,000 randomly selected executives with hiring responsibility across a variety of industries by telephone. They determined their organizations’ intentions for hiring in professional occupations in the upcoming quarter.
Why are companies adding perks in 2011? Employment perks improve morale and productivity. They can help retain staff and can be cost-effective for companies that can’t afford to offer huge bonuses.
What are the perks that employees most appreciate? The survey showed the top three to be subsidized training and education, flexible work hours with telecommunication available and mentoring programs.
How can employees negotiate perks? Ask upfront so that you make the client aware of the things that are most important to you.
