Daly City fire victim identified

The San Mateo County Coroner’s Office on Wednesday identified 45-year-old William McLeod IV as the man whose body was found as crews extinguished a fire at a Daly City home Monday.

Paramedics pronounced McLeod dead at the scene. The exact cause of his death is still under investigation.

Firefighters responded to a blaze in a detached unit behind 210 Los Olivos Ave. at 4:25 p.m. As they put out the fire, they found McLeod’s body inside, North County Fire Authority spokesman Matt Lucett said.

Fire investigators also have not determined what started the fire, Lucett said.
