Daily Outrage: Shipments suspended for gas linked to fatal blast

WHAT: Aux Sable Liquid Products warned officials in at least 12 eastern states that some of its propane may have lacked enough of the chemical giving the normally odorless gas its distinctive smell, so users can detect possible leaks.

WHY: Aux Sable suspended shipments after the Massachusetts attorney general began investigating an explosion that killed a construction worker. A propane leak caused the blast, but survivors insisted they did not smell propane’s telltale “rotten eggs” smell.

WHAT’S BEING DONE: The company said it’s working to ensure all future propane deliveries are tested. But there has not yet been a recall of product already sent to stores.
