Crook’s toy gun foils robbery

A man’s attempt to rob a South of Market area business at gunpoint failed Tuesday when the victim realized it was a toy gun, police said.

The robbery occurred around 10:16 a.m. at a business in the 900 block of Folsom Street, police said.

The suspect, a man in his 40s, gave up and fled after his threat of gunplay was reduced to child’s play, police said.

There have been no arrests. The victim, a 30-year-old man, was not injured, police said.
