Cost of parking tickets on Caltrain property could increase next month

Parking misdeeds on Caltrain property could become a little more expensive for motorists next month.

On Dec. 2, the board of directors for the transit agency will vote on approving a $3 increase to parking violations on Caltrain property, increasing the cost of most infractions from $45 to $48.

While the hikes will increase the agency’s budgeted revenues by $75,600 this fiscal year, all of that money will be funneled into the state’s coffers. In fact, the violation-increase proposal is actually a surcharge to pay off state court costs.

If approved by the Caltrain board, the new prices will go into effect Dec. 7.
