As if the deadly San Bruno explosion did not have enough people on edge about natural gas pipeline breaks.
A man told cops that a lunatic broke a gas pipe for no apparent reason outside his business in the 4800 block of Mission Street on Thursday.
The business owner was indoors when he heard a loud thud outside around 6:15 p.m., police said. When he went outside, he saw a man walking away from a gas pipe protruding from his building, police said.
“The gas pipe had been broken and the victim could smell the odor of natural gas,” police said.
The business owner then saw the suspect continue down the street and kick and break a water pipe protruding from another building, cops said.
Police are searching for the senseless vandal. He was described as a Hispanic man in his early 20s standing 5 feet, 9 inches and weighing around 170 pounds, police said. He was wearing a black sweatshirt.
