What: Broussard was sentenced to 21 years and four months in state prison Monday after being accused of robbing more than seven Bay Area banks since 2008 and beating up a corrections officer. She was known to authorities as the “Construction Worker Robber” because she wore a hard hat and orange reflective vest during the heists.
How: Broussard was a candidate for California’s three-strikes law, which means she faced 25 years to life in prison. But prosecutors offered her a last-minute plea deal on the first day of her jury trial and she accepted it.
