City to pay $275,000 in medical costs for bad pavement

The City is poised to pay out two medical settlements totaling $275,000 because of an uneven sidewalk and cracked concrete.

Thelma Jefferson was hit with $200,000 in medical bills after she tripped over an uneven sidewalk last year, and Marlon Miranda’s bills will total about $75,000.

The claims never went to court, saving everyone a heap of legal costs. The Board of Supervisors is expected to approve the settlements in the upcoming weeks.
