City opens 'community engagement centers' for Mehserle discussion

Officials are opening up "community engagement centers" in San Francisco for residents to peacefully express their feelings about the Mehserle verdict, San Francisco police spokesman Sgt. Troy Dangerfield said.

Locations at the City College southeast campus at 1800 Oakdale Ave. in the Bayview District and Ella Hill Hutch Center at 1050 McAllister St. in the Western Addition neighborhood should be open by 5 p.m.

Dangerfield said there have been no reports of any large gatherings or violent behavior in San Francisco.
