San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department employee Thomas Burnoski, 57, has been booked on charges of vehicular manslaughter and felony hit and run in connection with the death of a mother who was run over by a city vehicle in Holly Park Thursday afternoon, police said Friday.

Christine Svanemyr, 35, of Daly City, was hit shortly after 2:20 p.m. in the park near Highland Avenue while she was lying on the grass with her infant, fire department spokeswoman Mindy Talmadge said. She was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where she died.

Her child was uninjured, police said.

Burnoski, who has reportedly worked for Rec and Park since 2006, drove off after the collision, but he and the truck were found nearby a few minutes after officers arrived, police said.
