A woman who is perhaps better known in the society pages has a new job shaping policy for city government.
Sonya Molodetskaya, a boutique owner and “lady friend” of Willie Brown, as the former mayor puts it, was appointed and sworn in to the Immigrant Rights Commission by Mayor Gavin Newsom Thursday. The commission has held sway in several high-profile debates, especially the battle over sanctuary city.
Molodetskaya may be uniquely qualified for the commission because it requires at least eight members be immigrants to the U.S.
In the opening pages of his autobiography, Brown describes her as “the beautiful Russian blonde, Sonya Molodetskaya, on my right.”
