Carlsbad detective arrested for alleged burglary 

Police say an 18-year veteran of the Carlsbad Police Department has been arrested for investigation of burglary.

Police Chief Gary Morrison says 47-year-old Detective Michael C. Koch is on administrative leave following his arrest Sunday.

The U-T San Diego ( says Morrison issued a news release saying all members of the department are held to the highest standards. But he did not release details of the burglary.

Morrison says the San Diego County district attorney will handle the case.

Carlsbad is about 35 miles north of San Diego.
