Car fire clogs portion of Market Street during rush hour 

A car fire near the intersection of 6th and Market streets has a portion of The City’s main thoroughfare blocked during Monday’s evening rush hour.

The white SUV is parked in the right-hand lane of Market Street heading west with white smoke steaming out of its engine.

San Francisco Fire Department officials have confirmed a vehicle was on fire at the intersection around 5:15 p.m., but did not know if there were injuries involved in the incident.

Market Street is open to traffic, Muni bus lines are making their way around the fire, according to San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency spokesman Paul Rose, service is not affected.
