Caltrain records ridership growth in August, on-time performance drops

For the second time in three months, Caltrain registered growth to its average weekday ridership numbers.

The commuter rail line recorded an average of 40,939 riders each weekday in August, a two percent increase from August of 2009. While its ridership increased in August, Caltrain’s on-time performance dipped slightly. The agency’s trains arrived as scheduled on 92.9 percent of their trips, down from the 95.4 mark Caltrain recorded in August 2009.

In June, Caltrain’s ridership increased by 2.2 percent, the first time in a year that Caltrain registered ridership growth in its month-to-month comparisons.
