Six-foot-2 guard Ahmaad Rorie, out of Tacoma, Wash., signed a letter of intent, giving the Bears a viable replacement for Justin Cobbs, who is in his final year of eligibility.
Rorie is rated the 13th-best point guard in the 2014 class by ESPN.com.
Rorie transferred to Montverde Academy just outside of Orlando, Fla., for his final season after three years in Washington, where he averaged 21 points and five assists per game as a junior.
Cal women sign high school teammates: Cal coach Lindsay Gottlieb added a talented pair of high school teammates in her second recruiting class.
Mikayla Cowling and Gabby Green of St. Mary’s High School (Albany) signed letters of intent to attend Cal. Both players are rated among the top 15 players in the country according to ESPN HoopGurlz rankings.
The 6-2 Cowling averaged 12.4 points and 7.8 rebounds per game last year, while the 6-2 Green averaged 16.6 points and 6.9 rebounds per game.
USF inks guard: The USF women’s basketball team signed guard Tiara Tucker to a letter of intent. The 5-6 Stockton native will play her senior season at McNair High School after transferring from Brookside Christian, where she averaged 29.6 points per game as a junior last year. She is the No. 53-ranked player in the state, according to MaxPreps.com.
