Cal’s All-Pac-12 Conference forward Gennifer Brandon has taken leave from the team for personal reasons. The school said in a statement Sunday there is no timetable for her return. Brandon played 13 minutes in the No. 17 Golden Bears’ opener before sitting out the past three games while recovering from stress fractures in her right leg. She had six points in that game.

Meanwhile on Sunday, Reshanda Gray shot 9-of-13 from the field, scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as No. 17 Cal defeated Northwestern 65-51.

After Cal (3-2) scored the game’s first 9 points, Northwestern (4-1) cut the deficit to 18-17. But Cal never trailed and led by as many as 18 in the second half.
