OAKLAND — In his first appearance since signing his new five-year, $112.5 million contract, Matt Cain went five innings and allowed two runs as the Giants beat the A’s 3-2 in exhibition action.

Cain, who threw 78 pitches, scattered five hits and struck out six.

With the game tied 2-2 in the top of the fifth and Melky Cabrera on first, Pablo Sandoval hit a grounder sharply at Eric Sogard that skipped under his glove and into center field, allowing Cabrera to move to third.

Aubrey Huff drove in the go-ahead run on a fielder’s choice ground ball to second.

A’s right fielder Josh Reddick hit his third home run of the spring in the first off Cain.
