A "briefs" standoff with police last weekend ended in the arrest of a burglary suspect who had reportedly broken into a South San Francisco home wearing only his underwear.

Rodney Narayan, 25, of San Bruno terrorized a mom and her two kids after he allegedly climbed through the window of a garage in the 800 block of Second Lane about 5:50 p.m. Saturday, police said.

Narayan took a few items and then went into the living room, where he encountered the residents. He allegedly grabbed the woman's arm and attempted to force her downstairs, but she refused.

"Narayan then reached his hand into his underwear and motioned as if he was masturbating," police said.

Nararyan reportedly then returned to the garage, allowing the mother to lock him out of the home. When officers arrived, they learned Narayan had locked himself inside a room within the garage. After he refused to surrender, police said, officers busted down the door and took him into custody.

Narayan, who was booked into San Mateo County Jail, pleaded not guilty Monday to indecent exposure, battery and residential burglary, Chief Deputy District Attorney Karen Guidotti said Tuesday. He remains in custody in lieu of $100,000 bail and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Aug. 16.
