Burglars have window-smashing party in Bayview parking lot

While victims danced in a Bayview nightclub Sunday, two car burglars were allegedly having a window-smashing party in the parking lot, San Francisco police said.

The suspects are believed to have broken into six cars and stolen from a total of 13 victims outside the club venue at Barneveld and Dorman avenues around 2:20 a.m.

A witness reported seeing the suspects break into two cars, remove purses from both and load them into a parked Acura. Responding cops detained two men who matched the description of the suspects. They attempted to run but were not successful, cops said.

A search of the Acura turned up “a stack of property and purses piled high in the backseat,” police said. A name on a prescription bottle in the car matched the name of one of the suspects. The car was also newly purchased by one of the suspects, police said.

While officers examined the loot, a “steady stream of victims began approaching, stating that their car had been broken into,” police said.

The victims recovered their property and both suspects were booked at Bayview Station, police said.
