Bryan Stow’s fever is down and he doesn’t have any infections, according to an update from his family.
The 42-year-old Giants fan, who was viciously beaten outside Dodger Stadium on March 31, remains in a coma at San Francisco General Hospital.
Last month, doctors upgraded Stow’s condition from critical to serious, saying he has shown improvement but is far from out of the woods.
On Monday, the family added more optimism, saying on a website dedicated to Stow that he may be well enough to undergo an important medical procedure called a shunt. The procedure would allow doctors to drain fluid that may have built up in his brain.
“We have heard from many people that this could, while eliminating excess fluid, help with his responsiveness,” the family said in the statement.
