Brutal midday robbery ambush in SoMa

A woman was beaten and robbed in a broad daylight ambush in the South of Market neighborhood Monday, cops said.

The 49-year-old was punched in the back of the head by one of the brutes and then punched in the forehead by another in the 1000 block of Mission Street around 1 p.m., police said. Cops describe the thugs only as men in their 20s.

After the attack, the woman fell to the ground and one of the goons grabbed her backpack, cops said. They both fled the scene and no arrest has been made.

The woman complained of pain to the back of her head but refused medical treatment. The woman lost her wallet, ID and cash, all of which were in her backpack, police said.
