Broom-wielding woman arrested for threatening behavior

Trash talk between neighbors in Bernal Heights nearly came to blows Thursday when a broom-wielding woman threatened a mother holding her child, police said.

Police were called to an ongoing neighbor dispute in the housing projects in the 900 block of Ellsworth Street regarding garbage strewn on the properties

The mom told a cop around 9:30 a.m. that she watched her neighbor sweep garbage onto her property. When she confronted the neighbor, the neighbor “started yelling and got so mad that she pulled the broom back in a batter’s stance and half-swung at the victim,” who had her baby in her arms, police said.

“The suspect stopped short, but put fear in the victim and the baby,” police said.

The suspect was arrested for the threatening behavior, police said.
