A brazen thief spoiled Bike to Work day on Thursday for at least one cyclist when he took off with the victim’s bike while the victim was cheering on other riders at an energizer station, ABC 7 news reports.
ABC 7 news actually caught the theft on video while they were covering activity at the energizer station on Market Street set up for bikers to energize themselves on the way to work. While a group of riders were stopped to cheer on other cyclists, the thief grabbed one of their bikes and fled.
The victim, Ramon Salis, gave chase, along with others, but they were not able to catch the crook.
“He was on my bike and I was on foot and I have imagined myself in this situation so many times, but I couldn't catch up to him,” Salis told ABC.
Police arrived and said they will be on the lookout for the crook and Salis said he is offering a $1,300 reward for his bike’s return.
