Big haul for Half Moon Bay burglar

A thief scored heaps of loot in a beachfront burglary.

A car’s passenger window was broken into at Montara State Beach in Half Moon Bay on Thursday afternoon, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office. A gray computer bag was taken that contained a computer, camera, credit cards and binoculars, deputies said.

Another burglary was reported 15 minutes later at the McNee Ranch parking lot. The driver’s side rear window was broken and a man’s black jacket stolen, officials said.

Coastal law enforcement agencies say car break-ins are commonplace, with surfers and unwitting tourists targeted. They are often so excited by beautiful views, they are unaware that crooks are watching, one deputy told the SF Examiner.
