  • Ben Ainslie's sailing team moved into the lead after winning the second fleet race on the opening day of the America's Cup World Series on Thursday. The four-time Olympic champion skippered JP Morgan BAR to victory in the second race after finishing third in the first for 21 points.

NAPLES, Italy — Ben Ainslie's sailing team has moved into the lead after winning the second fleet race on the opening day of the America's Cup World Series on Thursday.

The four-time Olympic champion skippered JP Morgan BAR to victory in the second race for 21 points. Emirates Team NZ has 20 points after winning the opening race but finishing fourth in the next outing.

Ainslie's team is also through to the semifinals in the match racing after beating Energy Team of France. Luna Rossa Piranha joins it after beating Emirates Team NZ in the quarterfinals.

The Naples leg of the World Series is the last before the Louis Vuitton Cup for challengers begins on July 4 in San Francisco.
