Bayview police have their eyes peeled for Potrero Hill burglaries

A career criminal was busted as part of an operation to rid Potrero Hill of brazen home burglars.

Residents have been decrying a rash of burglaries in the neighborhood. In some incidents, creepy thieves didn’t wait for residents to leave their homes before going in.

Bayview Station police have saturated the neighborhood with plainclothes and uniformed patrols that helped lead to the arrest of a man with a long rap sheet, San Francisco cops said. The suspect, who hasn’t been identified, is wanted in at least one home invasion burglary.

Just after 4 a.m., a resident in the 500 block of Kansas Street was awakened by his barking dog. He chased the suspect, who had a hold of his computers, out the back door. He escaped in a stolen Lexus, police said.

The following day, a Marin County sheriff deputy spotted the stolen car in Sausalito and arrested the driver. SFPD were then able to tie the driver to the home invasion, police said.

“Bayview officers will continue to pursue leads that we have on other burglaries on Potrero Hill,” the police station said in a community newsletter.
