A suspicious device found on the Treasure Island offramp of the Bay Bridge this afternoon has been moved, according to a California Highway Patrol spokesman.

The suspicious device was found on one of the railings of the eastbound Treasure Island offramp,CHP Officer Mike Ferguson said. The exact nature of the device or object remains unclear, and Ferguson said he does not yet know whether it was found to be harmless.

The report of the suspicious object around 12:52 p.m. triggered an investigation that briefly shut down the Bay Bridge in both directions, causing major traffic delays.

Traffic has since resumed in both directions, Ferguson said.
