Bay Area Bike Coalition likely to receive $300,000 for Bike to Work events

The Bay Area Bike Coalition is expected to receive $300,000 in funding to help organize and promote the region’s Bike to Work Day for the next two years.

Since 2004, the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, the region’s lead transit-planning agency, has provided funding to the BABC to oversee the operations of Bike to Work Day. On Friday, the MTC’s Operations Committee is likely to extend that partnership for another two years by approving the $300,000 contract agreement.

Last year’s Bike to Work Day was May 13. In San Francisco, there was a 34 percent increase in the number of participants from 2009.
