A BART train struck a tree or tree branch near the Hayward station Thursday morning, resulting in major delays on the Fremont line, BART spokesman Jim Allison said.
No injuries were reported, but the train was stopped on the tracks where it hit the obstruction just outside the Hayward station, disrupting service in both directions, he said.
The train struck the tree or tree branch at 10:43 a.m., and Allison said BART had to turn southbound trains around at the Hayward station. Northbound trains coming from Fremont were turned around at the South Hayward station.
Normal service was resumed around noon, but there were still residual delays on the system, according to BART.
