BART handing out 60,000 free tickets for holiday shoppers

Who said you can’t get anything in life for free?

Starting at 6 a.m. tomorrow morning, BART will be handing out a pair of free tickets to 60,000 commuters at six of its transit stations. The giveaway will last until 9 a.m., or until 120,000 free passes are handed out.

The tickets will be good for one-way travel, and they can only be used on the weekend days of December 4/5, 11/12, and 18/19. BART is using the free-ticket promotion as a way to encourage travelers to use public transit while shopping this holiday season.

BART officials will be handing out the tickets on Thursday at the Downtown Berkeley, 12th St/Oakland City Center, Embarcadero, Montgomery, Powell, and Civic Center stations.

Once BART riders use the free ticket, they can go to the BART website and answer a set of survey questions, at which time their name will be entered into a drawing for a $300 Clipper card.
