Lindsay Lohan’s lawyer said the actress is innocent of charges she stole a necklace, and believes the charge should not be a felony.
With the troubled star facing the specter of prison time, TMZ consulted jewelers who deemed the necklace’s $2,500 price tag far in excess of its value. Its estimated worth was $800 to $1,000. And only goods with a fair market value of $950 or more trigger felony charges.
“We intend to challenge the prosecution’s case because the truth is, Ms. Lohan didn’t steal anything,” Shawn Holley, the hardest-working attorney in show business, told the paparazzi website. “But even if she had, it seems to me that the appropriate charge, based on the fair market value of the goods, should have been petty theft and not grand theft.
“A $5 lump of coal with a $2,500 price tag is still a $5 lump of coal.”
Lindsay maintains she believed the necklace was on loan to her. Maybe she should consider hiring someone from TMZ for her defense team?
Now that smoking-hot actress Scarlett Johansson is back on the market, she has been subject to much speculation about rebound romances. The latest guy rumored to be helping her heal her Ryan Reynolds heartbreak is Sean Penn.
The 50-year-old actor and the 26-year-old actress began a fling in January, while she was living at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles, according to Us magazine.
“Their first hookup was in Scarlett’s bungalow,” a source said. “Scarlett’s smitten with him.”
The New York Post claimed Scarlett and Sean were seen chatting at a recent party and were rumored to have left together.
But her rep said it is “not true. She went home after the party and they did not leave at the same time.” A source said Sean went on to party with pals.
“Scarlett and Sean are not dating — they have been friends for years. Nothing more, nothing less,” her rep told People magazine. “They have been talking over the last few months regarding Haiti relief and Scarlett’s upcoming trip to Haiti as Oxfam’s global ambassador.”
Jennifer Aniston is frequently the target of gossip. Now Perez Hilton is opening up about his exclusive powwow with the actress, when she set the record straight.
After the former “Friends” star revealed to Ellen DeGeneres that the pair had had a cathartic off-the-record convo, the gossip blogger decided to tell Life&Style magazine what they discussed. You guessed it: He actually asked her about Angelina Jolie. Does Jen hate her, Perez wanted to know?
“Jen said, ‘Look, that was so long ago, and we’ve moved on and we’re all adults,’” Perez said. “I believe what she has to say. I think she really has moved on.”
The “Just Go With It” star also said, “I still talk to Brad and everything’s fine.”
“She told me that she dates a lot,” Perez said. “And just makes sure not to go anywhere public.”
Not that that stops gossip hounds from concocting wild stories about her. The same tabloid magazine breathlessly reported Jen celebrated her 42nd birthday with a dinner date with Jake Gyllenhaal.
“Jen and Jake looked very comfortable with each other,” a witness reportedly said. “They were glowing.”
However, according to other published reports, the pair were part of a party of 30 celebrating the actress’s big day at NYC’s Spotted Pig, including Adam Sandler and Chris Rock. No word on whether they were “glowing” as well.
