  • Police took four men suspected of trying to rob a medical marijuana grow house into custody after a standoff in the Bayview district.

Police believe they are dealing with a potential hostage situation in the Bayview following an attempted robbery at a medical marijuana dispensary.

The area surrounding the 2100 block of Jennings Street has been cordoned off, and a SWAT team is posted as police believe one of the masked robbers is still inside the pot shop.

“So we’re treating it as a barricaded suspect, possibly a hostage situation,” police Sgt. Michael Andraychak said.

At about 3:50 a.m., Andraychak said, police responded to the area on a robbery call and spotted three men in ski masks in front of the building. The suspects were apprehended within a block of the dispensary and are being questioned at Bayview Station.

Police investigators are attempting to make contact with those inside the dispensary. Andraychak said. The standoff was ongoing at about 8 a.m.
