Whoa, we did not see this one coming!
Ashlee Simpson has filed for divorce from Pete Wentz after almost three years of marriage. She cited “irreconcilable differences” as her reason, according to TMZ, and is seeking spousal and child support, along with primary custody of son Bronx, 2. They reportedly have no prenup.
“After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to file for divorce,” the pair said in a joint statement. “We remain friends and deeply committed and loving parents to our son Bronx, whose happiness and well-being remains our No. 1 priority. We ask that everyone honor our privacy as we navigate this next phase of our lives.”
Sounds exactly like every other celebrity-split news release. So what really happened? Sources tell TMZ that no one came between them — the former “Melrose Place” star simply could not deal with her rocker hubby’s quirks.
“It’s really all about Pete’s erratic behavior,” a source said. “She really wanted out.”
Funny, you would think “erratic” would not be a problem for a woman who was willing to name her kid Bronx Mowgli.
Another shocking split! Call us crazy, but when Jude Law and Sienna Miller reunited — and lasted a year — we actually thought they might go the distance. However, it did not work out that way.
“I can confirm that Jude Law and Sienna Miller are no longer in a relationship,” the Jude’s rep told People magazine.
“It is mutual and amicable, and they are still friends,” a source said.
In other words, no nannies were involved?
The breakups just keep on coming! Olivia Wilde has split up with her husband, Tao Ruspoli, after eight years. And if you believe tabloid reports, it was due to her rising stardom.
“They have been separated for a while,” a source told Us magazine of the “Tron: Legacy” star and her hubby.
“It was Olivia’s decision ... for the typical Hollywood reasons,” a second source said. “Her career has exploded and she saw being married is not as much fun.”
“She is a hot property now. It was weighing her down being married,” a pal said, adding that Tao “is heartbroken and really wanted to stay together.”
Well, as today’s barrage of breakup news has proved, that ain’t easy in Tinseltown.
Despite the tabloids’ insistence that she is still hung up on ex Brad Pitt (or John Mayer, for that matter), Jennifer Aniston would like everyone to know she is perfectly content with her life — no, really, she is. Asked by People magazine what the biggest misconception about her is, she said, “That I’m unhappy. I’m really happy. Really!”
The almost-42-year-old said she has not had a relationship in more than a year and a half, but she is not as troubled about her single and childless status as the rest of the world appears to be.
“I think people honestly just want to see me as a mom and married and barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen,” the former “Friends” star said. “And I just want to say, ‘Everybody, relax! It’s going to happen.’”
You know what, Jen? It is perfectly fine if it does not. Not every woman has to want kids!
