It took more than three hours, but the Giants and A’s officially finished their preseason schedule Wednesday with an 8-1 A’s victory at AT&T Park.

With the Opening Day rosters settled before the game began, all that was left was getting more playing time before the regular season kicks off for the Giants on Friday. The A’s start their home schedule Friday, though they already played two regular-season games in Japan.

Six of the A’s runs were scored off Giants starter Yusmerio Petit, who will not be on the Opening Day roster. Five of those runs were driven in on a pair of home runs by A’s third baseman Josh Donaldson. They were his first homers of spring training.

The Giants had emptied most of their bench by midway through the game, and their attention now turns to Friday’s game in Arizona.

“Now it’s time to get this season started,” manager Bruce Bochy said. “I like the way the spring went. Guys worked hard, they played hard, and I think they’re ready.”

Tim Lincecum will take the mound for the Giants against Arizona’s ace, Ian Kennedy. The game begins at 4:10 p.m.
