A 26-year-old man was stabbed after what the victim called a senseless argument with a thug on Market Street about 1 a.m. Wednesday, police said.

The man said the suspect, who is an acquaintance, came up to him on the street and started an argument for no apparent reason, Officer Albie Esparza said.

The acquaintance, identified as 47-year-old Mark Johnson of San Francisco, allegedly whipped out a knife and stabbed the man in the stomach and hand, Esparza said.

The victim’s injuries were not life-threatening. Officers located Johnson and took him into custody. He was booked on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and also for reportedly threatening to kill police while on his way to the hospital.
