Area forecast to be cold, wet

Temperatures will dip slightly in the coming days after a warm past couple of weeks, with Wednesday’s Veterans Day festivities likely to get rained on.

Light showers are expected all day Wednesday and into Thursday, National Weather Service forecaster Steve Anderson said Sunday.

High temperatures will slide down into the upper 50s and low 60s, he said. Last week’s highs reached the 80s. The bright, sunny skies that have been shining on The City will cloud up today, contributing to the drop in temperature.

After the midweek rain, however, it should be clear skies for another week, Anderson said.

“This is a typical gulf winter storm bringing in rain,” he said.

As for the Mavericks Surf Contest, big swells seen last weekend were expected to subside Sunday night.
