App-ly yourself and win big bucks

“Pimp my app?”

San Francisco’s Convention and Visitor’s Bureau is calling on application developers to help the organization make over The City’s visitors application.

As part of the annual APPNATION conference, scheduled to be held next month at the Moscone Center, the visitor’s bureau has turned the request for an upgrade and update to their application by coupling it with a $2,500 grand prize.

The winning application will “capture the beauty, character, charm, history, culture and major coolness that is the city of San Francisco,” according to the conference website.

It should be easy to navigate, according to the visitor’s and convention bureau.

APPNATION is a convention that focuses on consumer applications for social and mobile devices.

Applications can be submitted now through Sept. 3. The winner will be announced during the 2-day conference.

The contest is open to professional or amateur developers.
