More than four months after the ex-child star was discharged from treatment, her mother, Lynn Bynes, is refuting claims the 28-year-old has been diagnosed with a mental illness, according to In Touch magazine.
“Amanda has no mental illness whatsoever. She has never been diagnosed as schizophrenic or bipolar,” attorney Tamar Arminak said on Lynn’s behalf. “She is very sorry for all the hurtful tweets, statements and actions that occurred while she was under the influence of marijuana.”
In May 2013, police were called to the starlet’s apartment after reports of a disturbance. She later was accused of throwing a glass bong out of her Manhattan high-rise apartment.
One photographer in the apartment during a party that ultimately led to her arrest told In Touch she had “at least a dozen hand-rolled joints on her” before the party, adding that it’s “amazing” how much she smokes.
