These thieves are rotten to the core.
A series of robberies of Apple products from FedEx delivery trucks in San Francisco might be linked to a major crime syndicate operating out of Los Angeles, authorities said Tuesday.
Last month, police said three Los Angeles men and one from Las Vegas were detained after cops stopped their suspected getaway van and found Apple products that had been reported stolen from a FedEx truck.
Two of the men — Jose Reyes, 52, and Victor Morales, 45, both of Los Angeles — have been charged with possession of stolen property. Reyes was allegedly seen on surveillance footage at a Mission district post office shipping two of the stolen computers to Morales’ home in Los Angeles, San Francisco prosecutors said.
Morales was released from custody after posting $15,000 bail. Reyes is on a no-bail hold due to a separate case in Los Angeles, prosecutors said.
Meanwhile, the investigation of Apple thefts in The City is ongoing, prosecutors said. Police said they are investigating at least 10 thefts or attempted thefts from FedEx trucks parked near San Francisco Apple stores. Sources have told police the men might be members of a criminal organization that sends traveling thieves to the Bay Area.
