Another Monday, another BART protest in the works.
Online activists have once again made statements indicating that they will protest at BART’s Civic Center Station for this evening’s commute. It will be the sixth straight Monday that protesters have targeted the transit agency.
BART has been under siege since the July 3 shooting of Charles Hill by the transit agency’s police officers. Weekly protests started last month, following the agency’s decision to shut down cellphone service to quash a planned event.
Various Twitter feeds tied to Anonymous, the shadowy activist group that has been leading the protests, have indicated that protesters are planning to amass tonight.
While the agency explores way to contain the protesters, some members at BART think the events may be finally losing traction. Last Monday, only two dozen members showed up, and no stations were closed as a result of the gatherings.
