Al Qaeda’s Inspire Magazine’s most recent edition uses quotes from unsuspecting politicians, media experts and journalists to promote its success in the western world. It is a glossy publication that resembles most western magazines sold on grocery store shelves.
The 66 page January issue quotes former Congressman Rep. Peter Hoekstra, Michigan Republican.
“It was unfortunately a well done magazine and a virtual how-to-guide for becoming a terrorist,” it says in bold colorful letters at the top of the magazine's Reaction page, referring to the former congressman’s comments about the publication made last July.
The magazine is the inspiration of American born terrorist Anwar al-Awlaki, leader of al Qaeda’s Yemen branch. He has been involved with a number of attacks in the U.S., including the Ft. Hood shooting, the attempted Christmas day bomber and New York Times square bomber.
