The death of a 36-year-old man at the finish line of the Kaiser Half Marathon earlier this month still leaves a lot of questions unanswered.
Did race organizers, RhodyCo, have sufficient medical staff on hand to help Peter Hass when he collapsed at the finish line? If the city emergency agency that approves such medical plans thought the response was insufficient, why did it approve the plan in the first place? Should the San Francisco Fire Department have had more presence in the area in case something went wrong?
Supervisor Eric Mar, whose district includes Golden Gate Park, hopes the answers to those questions will surface at a hearing he has called for the Board of Supervisors Public Safety Committee. We’ll update you when the hearing is scheduled.
