  • A woman was reportedly knocked off her walker in a burglary in the Tenderloin on Friday.

A man was arrested in the Tenderloin on Friday for allegedly knocking an 74-year-old woman off her walker and stealing her clothes and shoes, police said Tuesday.

Transient Richard Merrill, 47, was booked on charges of robbery and elder abuse in connection with the senseless attack in the 100 block of Eddy Street about 11:10 p.m., Officer Gordon Shyy said.

A witness reportedly saw Merrill knock the woman down, causing her to hit her head against a car, Shyy said.

He then allegedly ripped off her jacket, shirt, pants and shoes, and kicked the senior on the ground.

"As soon as the suspect saw the witness, he fled, leaving behind all the clothing," Shyy said.

She was taken to the hospital with injuries not considered to be life threatening.
