A 7-year-old girl who was struck by a garbage truck Wednesday morning along The Embarcadero suffered a serious foot injury, according to police.

The girl and her 66-year-old grandmother were hit about 7:30 a.m. at Broadway and The Embarcadero, police Officer Albie Esparza said. The grandmother suffered abrasions and scrapes to her leg, police said.

The driver of the Recology truck involved in the accident stopped at the scene and cooperated with the police investigation, Officer Gordon Shyy said.

It is not known if the two were in a crosswalk at the time of the collision, police said.
